I heard about White Rabbits for the first time while I was at work today.  The song I was introduced to is called “Percussion Gun.” I was in awe, simply amazed by every single element of the song. The vocals are strong and energetic, the piano is briefly heard but sets the tone. The percussion is simple yet impressive, the bass hook is infectious and the guitarist fuses the song with an addictive guitar riff. Time to buy the album, its going to be worth every cent. \m/

“Midnight And I” is a mellow song, yet haunting and lovely. “Right Where They Left” makes me want to grab someone’s hand and dance. The drums and piano really make the song unique and soulful. Currently the band is touring internationally but will be in the states for Coachella on April 17th.

Folk singer-songwriter, Tina Dico’s music truly is a treat for the ears. A few of my favorite songs by Tina Dico are In Love & War, Rebel Song and Private Party. Dico has a lovely clear pitch and tone. Her adoration for folk music and the blues is apparent when one observes her writing style or listens to her music.

What I appreciate about this artist is her passion for the music she creates. You can hear it when she sings. Dico has a powerful voice but I don’t think she truly knows her potential yet. Dico has a similar writing style to Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Beck and Coldplay. If you want to listen to something relaxing, perhaps while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee by a cozy fire on a rainy or snowy day? Listen to Tina Dico.

Oren Lavie’s music is idiosyncratic, crisp and clean, absolutely elegant and dignified. “Her Morning Elegance” is one of Lavie’s better known songs. The song was even featured on a Super Bowl commercial. Over a million people have seen the music video “Her Morning Elegance” on YouTube, which was an overnight iTunes success.

Some of my personal favorites by Lavie are “Her Morning Elegance” (obviously), Ruby Rises and The Opposite Side of the Sea.

Breakthrough artist, Esser, hails from London and has enough sass and pop class to keep you listening. Esser is ready to puncture the mainframe of pop music. The songs from the album “Braveface” are catchy, high energy and wait a second… Does the remarkably catchy song “Satisfied” have a gypsy/polka-sounding influence? My personal favorite song by Esser is “Headlock.” Also, don’t forget to check out the song “Work It Out.” However, proceed with caution, you might just really love the song and become addicted. Not that, you know, that’s a bad thing… =p

The first song I heard from Wax Tailor was “Que Sera” – a familiar tune from my childhood. Only this particular song, was remixed and revitalized. This version of “Que Sera” (Album – Tales of the Forgotten Melodies) produces a sonic boom, get up and move vibe. Wax Tailor’s music is described as “Hip Hop / Trip Hop / Turntablism.”

Not only is “Que Sera” a hypnotic, jammin’ song… “House of Wax featuring The Others” from the album Hope and Sorrow, makes one want to have a massive BBoy Competition. Or, hell, at least I wouldn’t mind watching people dance their socks off to rockin’, kickin’ *maybe quite literally* to the music. Sounds like a sensational time to me!

“We Be featuring Ursula Rucker” is another one of my personal favorites from the album, Hope and Sorrow. The beat is perfect, the lyrics are powerful and true, not sanctimonious or lewd, not preachy, just a matter of a opinion. “Take the road less traveled…” The song speaks truth and Rucker’s voice brings elements of power, emotion and soul together in one musical masterpiece. “Why can’t we be what we were meant to be…”

Every time I listen to “How I Feel” from the album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies, makes me want to sing the song at the top of my lungs, close my eyes and feel the song, appreciate the moment that the song creates. “Birds flying high, you know how I feel – Sun in the sky, you know how I feel – Breeze drifting on by you know how I feel – It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day – It’s a new life for me…”

Kaki King is a New York based musician who will inspire and enlighten you with her music. King is known for her slammin’ guitar skills – finger-picking, fret-slapping, real, honest, IN YOUR FACE music. Most of Kaki’s music is instrumental. However her most recent record, “Dreaming of Revenge” includes songs with vocals. King has an extensive resume. She was deemed a “Guitar God” by Rolling Stone, with four successful albums. (1) She contributed to the soundtrack for “Into The Wild” which was nominated for a Golden Globe. (2) So watch out world, get ready for your life to change once you listen to Kaki King.
